Street Pass is the new, always-on wireless connection for the Nintendo 3DS through which multiplayer gaming is possible. The idea is, a couple of perfect strangers, both with 3DSes, will be buzzed when theyāre near each other, inviting them to connect. A 3DS StreetPass group is forming, a week before the deviceās release, to take the happenstance out of such encounters.
StreetPass DC has formed via Facebook for 3DS users in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Its first meetup will be April 9 at the Navy Memorial, and additional ones are planned at other landmarks in the District, such as outside the White House or under the Washington Monument. (The group also has a Twitter feed.)
I think itās a great idea and a good way to get value from a new device feature, as well as socialize with others and get out of the house. Iām sure other groups will form, too. If you are a part of one, or if you want to start one, feel free to connect with your fellow 3DS enthusiasts through our comments, using the #streetpass tag.
