Eminemâs âWonât Back Downâ was the soundtrack to Black Opsâ American trailer. While the hip-hop star has a following in The Land of the Rising Sun, the Japanese version gets homegrown talent.
Namie Amuroâs âROCK Uâ scores the gameâs Japanese television ads. The Okinawa-born Amuro debuted in the early 1990s as part of the pop group Super Monkeyâs, but went solo by the middle of the decade and became one of the countryâs biggest popstars with tracks like âDonât Wanna Cryâ
Amuro is still one of Japanese biggest singers and fashion icons. Besides Call of Duty, she shills things like Coke and shampoo (above) on Japanese TV! By using Amuroâs music, Square Enix, the gameâs Japanese publisher, seems as if it aims to take Black Ops to a larger gaming audience.
Call of Duty games do have fans in Japan; however, the games are far from mainstream.
And Eminem, of course, recorded âWonât Back Downâ with Pink for his hit album Recovery.
