Seeing how the movie came out 22 years ago, Aladdin isnât exactly âa whole new worldâ at this point. Disney Infinity certainly took its sweet time bringing the nineties-era classic back in video game form, though. Today, Disney finally revealed its plans to bring Aladdin and Princess Jasmine to the Disney Infinity Toybox 2.0.

Donât get too excited, though. Because while having a magic carpet in your virtual toy box sounds unimpeachably awesome, the Aladdin-themed content doesnât sound like the mostâŠrobust addition to Disney Infinity.
The press release said nothing about a full Aladdin playset with unique levels in the vein of, say, the Pirates of the Caribbean or Monsters University ones. Instead, Disney left it at saying that âfans will be able to use these magical characters along with a variety of Disney fan favorites, including the popular Marvel Super Heroes, and hundreds of themed items, locations, props, vehicles and more to create all-new adventures and âwhole new worldsâ born from the imagination of players.â
Plus, the two characters arenât even coming out at the same time. Disney said that the Aladdin figure will launch in North America this coming fall, but weâll have to wait until 2015 to get Princess Jasmine.
Sigh. Whatever happened to showing me the world, Disney? There have already been plenty of popular Aladdin games. And if you ask me, itâs high time we brought back the Prince Ali we knew from his glory days on the SNES and Sega Genesis.
Well, I guess Aladdin and Jasmine didnât get together until the end of the movie anywaysâŠand you canât really deny that the new toys look pretty darn cool:
Princess Jasmine is looking particularly badass, in my opinion:
I mean, she even makes wielding a fish as if itâs a sword seem like a thing you can do:
And if stupid legal restrictions mean weâll never get a magic carpet in Mario Kart, I guess this will have to do:
âŠa car is basically the next-gen version of a magic carpet, right?
STOP THIEF!
Disney didnât provide an exact release date for either of the new toys. Fingers crossed that theyâll make a full playset for Prince Ali at some point, though.
