An iPhone Game That Splits Your Fingers as Well as Your Brain

After nearly five years with an iPhone in my pocket, I bought an Android phone last week. A HTC One XL. It’s a glorious phone, and I had been looking forward to providing a little more Android coverage on GAOTD, but seeing as I’ve gotten side-tracked playing old Lucasarts adventure games on the thing, I haven’t had enough time to play new Android games. Sorry. Maybe next week.

I did, however, find the time to play Toybox, a game we actually featured last week because it had a brilliant trailer. While cartoon man doesn’t make an appearance in the game, I’m pleased to say it’s still an excellent iOS title, both because of its adorable art style (ā€œSmall Kid’s Toys Come to Lifeā€) and its surprisingly challenging split-screen mechanic, which sees you controlling a shooter on the left and a Tetris-style puzzle game on the right.

I also like it’s built-in freshness; there’s one level to play when you buy the game, and it’s the same level everyone else is playing. Next week? All-new level.
