The Angry Birds franchise has only been around since December 2009. Yet, today, Finnish developer Rovio announced that its hit mobile game has been downloaded more than one billion times.
For some perspective, the U.S. Censusâ world population currently estimate around 7 billion people on planet Earth. Even if youâve got folks whoâve grabbed all of the Angry Birds gamesâ Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio and the just-out Angry Birds Spaceâthat still a level of penetration that boggles the mind.
Birds games exist on multiple platforms, from mobile to home consoles to browsers and desktop download hubs. However, if youâve been trying to access Angry Birds Space via the Mac App Store, you may have noticed that the gameâs mysteriously vanished. Users have reported graphical glitches and wiped scores after a recent update. When contacted by Kotaku, Rovio responded with the following:
âWe removed the game while weâre fixing some bugs, and weâll have a patched version available as soon as possible.â
Hey, you canât reach a billion downloads without a few broken eggs, I guess. Kotaku will update this story once Rovio issues a patch.
