The absurdly popular Xbox One early access game ARK Survival Evolved is supposed to be getting more than a hundred extra servers, according to a press release today. They’re not live yet, as the game’s several hundred servers remain stuffed.
The promise of added support should give people a slightly better chance to get into the multiplayer version of the game, which has been a hit on Xbox One since its launch.
On New Year’s Day, I couldn’t get into a game online:
Look like all 162 official PvE servers are full, too. And all but five of the 237 PvP servers. I guess this is already a hit on Xbox One!

Unsurprisingly, those servers are full right now, too. Forget about getting onto a dedicated, official PvP server:

There’s just no room! Even when you think there is, there isn’t…
As the above shots indicate, the game’s servers structure is being updated to v730.1, which is the first overall update for the game on Xbox One. That update is set to bring the console version of ARK up to the PC game’s v231.9. The PC game was just updated to v232, which includes dung beetles and other fun stuff.
Today’s console update adds a giant rideable prehistoric kangaroo and also does the following, according to today’s release:
Dino rebalancing
The addition of a primitive cage and stone fireplace items
Fixed Cave Loading crash/fall-thru
Improved performance: better framerate, less stalls
Fixed crosshair not appearing
Fixed potential loss of character save data in local mode
Fixed fur armor colorization
Improved speed of server listing
Fixed Taming Dinos losing Inventories/messed-up-Inventories upon reloading single player save game
Fixed a memory leak that was typically causing crashes around the Volcano area
And more…
If you can’t get into the game’s servers, you can play the game solo and start collecting berries and building thatched foundations en route to someday being a dino-taming hero. You can also host or join player-hosted servers.
ARK sells for $35 on the Xbox One, where the game’s developers say it’s been downloaded more than a million times since its December launch. No kidding:

The game is expected to come out for PS4 as well later this year.
