Army Simulator Is Short On Graphics, Big On Steering Wheel Peripherals

Everybody knows that armed forces around the world train using what are essentially advanced video games, but it’s rare we actually get to see one in action up-close like this.

Seventy-five Australian Army soldiers are about to embark on a peacekeeping mission to the Solomon Islands. Before leaving they’ve been familiarising themselves with the terrain and other local conditions on this simulator.

Its visuals may not be terribly cutting-edge, but it’s impressive that the actual city layout and surrounding countryside can be so accurately recreated.
