Boxplay Winners

Video game cosplay normally involves cosplaying as characters, not the video game itself. One Call of Duty fan turned that premise on its head in Canada a couple weeks ago, showing up as the Black Ops box itself. Last Sunday, our sensible shoppers swooped in to make everything even more absurd. We’ve got 20 of their best efforts, plus Gyaruson 2.0’s, inside!

First, another apology. It seems every four months our comments architecture simply can’t leave bad enough alone. We had fucked-up image uploads last week, yet again. Large-size versions for many submissions were inaccessible. I’ve stll included the winners, they’re just a lot smaller than expected. I thank you for your patience, and I thank you for your patience in another four months when our comment system decides to do this shit again.

Anyway, onto the finalists. GenMan (5) turned in several submissions. No. 5 was his best. pan1da7 (11) turned in another submission earning wide reader acclaim.

Once you see RandMan612’s (12) shop, you will shit bricks. RandomNemesis (13) knows I’ve got everybody out here thinking they’re filming Planet of the Apes on YouTube or some shit, but he ain’t buying it. I’m apprehensive about ‘Shops featurng Kotaku writers, just so we don’t look like particularly egregious self-promoters, but Cleesox matched the perfect face to the perfect body. I’ll be seeing that in my nightmares.

Xeriel (19) supplies this week’s mandatory Asshole Dog entry. Zigzagoon (20) put Blops Box Boy into the MGS 4 artwork but all I can see is Milton Waddams from Office Space. Walkertexasranger (18) picks a slightly less hilarious film for his subject. liniert99 (10) was the first to transpose Blops Boy’s head for the Battlefield 3 cover soldier.

Overall winners? While I was fond of GenMan’s, RandMan612’s and Dr. John Zoidberg’s homage to Dwight Schrute, I had to go with Gyaruson 2.0’s study in carbonite.
