Call Of Duty Survey Hints At Next-Gen Console Downloads

Call of Duty fansite Charlie INTEL is claiming that it managed to get hold of some screengrabs, taken while users were completing a survey for Activision on the future of the series.

What’s interesting about these surveys is that they mention what could possibly be a next-gen console feature.

While the site has edited the actual screens into the composite image you see above, citing concerns over “an apparent NDA” for the supplier of the information (survey users dealing with confidential information often have to sign a non-disclosure agreement promising they won’t reveal the details) they do report some of the information contained within, the most important of which is a question that asks how users would feel about having access to a “Digital version pre-downloaded to your console and available to play at 12:01am on launch day.”

Pre-downloads are a standard feature for PC gamers, but if this survey info is legitimate the scale and prominence of the downloadable versions suggests the feature will be a lot more widespread than Sony’s current (and recent) use of it presently. Which makes sense; after all, Call of Duty games are traditionally out in November, while most rumours about next-gen machines have them being released before next Christmas.

Before you go taking this as fact, though, remember that we’ve yet to confirm the legitimacy of this survey. Also, just because Activision is asking how you’d feel about something doesn’t mean it’s actually going to happen
