âIn my forty-plus years of growing watermelons,â 58 year-old Mitsuo Shibata told Japanese newspaper Fukui Shimbun, âthe is the first time Iâve seen this shape.â
Together, the two melons weigh 15 pounds. When they were still small, Shibata noticed the pair, thinking that they looked like a butt. Thatâs why the Japanese press is calling the fruit âwatermelons that look like a butt.â Well that, and they look like a giant green ass.
Another name for these kind of melons is âtwin watermelonsâ or âfutago suikaâ (ććăčă€ă«)
These melons actually went on display in Echizen, Fukui Prefecture, with people checking out the butt melons, reportedly saying things like, âThe heck are these?â
This isnât the first set of Japanese butt melons, as other farmers around the country have found two melons grown together, as you can see below. Mr. Shibata should spend less time in the fields and more time on the internet!

I wonder if lots of farmers will start growing these sexy melons on purpose to join
the array of other interestingly-shaped Japanese watermelons.
