With their stripped-down tunes and looping, incessant beats, Devo seems like a band that fits the 8-bit makeover mold more than most. And so, the music collective 8-bit Operators has pooled their talent to create âCrack That Chip!,â a video game-ized tribute to Mothersbaughâs mighty ensemble, and from what Iâve heard of it, itâs exceeded my expectations.
One of my favorite Devo tunes, âFreedom of Choice,â gets a cool, grindy treatment:
