Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe has teamed up with some of the developers behind the underrated Interstate 76 to begin work on a new vehicle combat game called..MotorGun.
Currently looking for funding on Kickstarter, MotorGun looks and sounds pretty much exactly how youâd imagine a game coming from those guys to be.
MotorGun will weld real world car physics and a diverse set of realistic cars to a set of amazing weapons systems of all kinds. It puts you in control of a deep set of customization elements â from paint to payload, itâs all up to you. As you play youâll advance and be exposed to an ever-deepening set of vehicle tech-trees, blowers, turbos and sway bars â heat seekers, miniguns and rocket pods. Try you hand in multiplayer combat in the wasteland. To the victor goes the spoils. Itâs the culmination of over two decades of car combat video game pedigrees and itâs comminâ at you at wide open throttle.
Theyâre looking for $650,000 in funding. Itâll be interesting to see if they get anywhere near it, given this is a genre that doesnât really fit the Kickstarter success mould (namely, being a vintage type of game that doesnât get made anymore).
UPDATE â Ah, though as has been pointed out below, Carmageddon made over $600,000, so maybe there is hope after all!
UPDATE 2 â Every time I write Carmageddon I imagine itâs actually a game about idâs John Carmack getting superpowers and destroying the world. Then I remember itâs not, and I get upset.
