The official âGuitar Hero Franchise Update FAQâ breaks the badâbut not wholly unexpectedânews that after the release of already announced downloadable content, your copies of DJ Hero 2 and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock will no longer be updated with new music. Youâll still be able to purchase all the already released content, naturally, but youâll have to make do with it for the foreseeable future.
Likely one of the biggest reasons for Activision turning off the drip feed of new tracksâbeyond the shutting down of the Guitar Hero divisionâis that there wonât be as many people around to make those songs. Activision is reportedly cutting back at music game studios Vicarious Visions and 7 Studios, with the future of DJ Hero creators Freestyle Games currently unknown
Activision will lay off around 500 people related to the shuttering of the Guitar Hero biz.
