At one time, Microsoft was in Hollywood, meeting with movie producers and trying to make a Halo movie. It didnât happen. And while Microsoft hasnât given up, the question remains:

Does Microsoft even need to make a Halo film?
âI donât know if we need a Halo movieâ, Microsoft Game Studios exec Phil Spencer told Kotaku. âIf the right scenario came up, I could see us entertaining it. I donât think itâs an integral part of where we are going.â
Earlier this year, Frank OâConnor from Micrsoftâs Halo branch, 343 Industries, noted that if Microsoft did make a Halo film, things such as toys, apparel, music and publishing would âwill grow exponentiallyâ. OâConnor is right â those aspects would grow exponentially. But that makes it seem as though Halo isnât already a huge cultural juggernaut.
âI think it has moved beyond movies,â Spencer added. âThat doesnât mean we would shut the door on the possibility. I donât think itâs a requirement.â Itâs not. Itâs not at all.
