Ragequitting has been a strong topic of discussion as EA Sports Canada looks to FIFA 11ās development, with the studio envisioning a system of reward and penalty for those who complete matches versus those who quit from a losing position.
In an interview with Eurogamer, the 2010 FIFA World Cup producer Simon Humber said the team is considering a reward system in FIFA 11. However, it does pose a ācomplex problem,ā considering some might leave a game because of a dropped connection, rather than giving up. The game has a āfive-minuteā rule that allows players to bail in the first five minutes of a game if the uplink proves spotty.
āAfter that there should be a penalty; just in the online world there are complexities that mean by the time the data comes back to our servers, something there means it doesnāt award the win to the right person. So weāre always looking to improve that,ā Humber told Eurogamer.
No such fixes will be made by the time 2010 FIFA World Cup releases on April 30. Any changes made would be implemented with FIFA 11 in the fall.
