Ex-Rolling Stones Bassist, Pink Floyd Drummer Not Big Music Game Fans

Just as a Beatles version of Rock Band has been released, ex-Rolling Stones guitarist Bill Wyman and Pink Floyd’s drummer Nick Mason have come down hard on music games.

“It makes less and less people dedicated to really get down and learn an instrument,” said Wyman. “I think it’s a pity so I’m not really keen on that kind of stuff.”

Wyman was at Abbey Road studios, where he was recording a Beatles cover for charity. Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason was also in attendance at Abbey Road and chimed in with his thoughts about music games: “It irritates me having watched my kids do it,” Mason said. “If they spent as much time practicing the guitar as learning how to press the buttons they’d be damn good by now.”

That doesn’t mean Mason is totally against Pink Floyd’s music appearing in games! “I think we’d consider it,” he added. “I think everyone’s looking at new ways of selling the music because the business of selling records has almost disappeared.”

Music from The Rolling Stones appears in Guitar Hero. Wyman left the Stones in 1990, because he apparently found touring stressful.
