Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy series, has been making video games for longer than many of you have been drawing breath. He canât make games forever, though.
Blogging on his studio Mistwalkerâs site, 47 year-old Sakaguchi has said that upcoming Wii role-playing game The Last Story âmight be my last workâ, as heâs poured all of his energy into it.

Were it to really be Sakaguchiâs last game, itâd a poignant note to bow out on.
Despite aâŠmoderate reception to 2006âs Blue Dragon and a largely positive one for 2007âs Lost Odyssey, The Gooch just hasnât been the same since he left Square Enix, where he was the driving force behind many of that companyâs biggest hits, including Final Fantasy VII.
Then again, it may just be a tease. A deep breath after a long, hard project. This is the guy who came up with âFinalâ Fantasy, after all!
