Your friendly neighborhood Spider-man is going on a spectacular multi-dimensional adventure in his next outing, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, which sends old Web-head to realities both âamazingâ and ânoir.â Letâs hope the two remaining mystery realms donât include a âsuckâ dimension.

The previously teased Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions will toss Spider-Man into four separate Marvel universes, according to GameSpotâs first look at the Beenox-developed title. That quadruple reality rift is caused by the mystical MacGuffin known as the Tablet of Order and Chaos, which Peter Parker must reacquire.
The gameâs first trailer highlights some of the gameplay differences between the two settings, as well as offering a preview at two of the gameâs bad guys, Kraven the Hunter and Hammerhead. It also gives us a peek at some of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensionsâ first-person punching.
Activision promises that the two remaining realities will be revealed at the official Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions web site. There are plenty of reality opportunities for Spider-Man, including dimensions set in the rotting Marvel zombies universe, the futuristic 2099 universe, the historical 1602 universe, and beyond.
Personally, Iâm hoping for Spider-Man India to get a chance to shine.
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is slated for release on PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 this September with a Nintendo DS version also in the works.
Update: Looks like Spider-Man 2099 may be one of the unannounced âdimensionsâ in Activisionâs upcoming game. GameStop has (or had) images of the gameâs pre-order bonus âcosmic costumes,â one of which is unmistakably spiky in a Spider-Man 2099 way. The other? Besides being a little bit bulkier, itâs hard to tell.
