Former LucasArts President Running For Congress

Jim Ward, former president of LucasArts, is running as a Republican to represent Arizona’s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives in next year’s election, according to Ward’s official election site.

ā€œIt’s time politicians who just want to be politicians got out of the way and let people who have run businesses, created jobs and made decisions they’ve had to live with, go to Washington and straighten out this mess,ā€ according to the election site for Ward, who resigned from LucastArts early last year. ā€œI’ve got that skill set along with the ability to make the right kind of change. I hope you’ll agree.ā€

Ward writes on his official bio page on the Jim Ward for Congress 2010: The Right Kind of Change, that after leaving LucasArts he went to Alsop Louie Partners as a ā€œventure partnerā€ where he ā€œprovides the necessary resources and guidance to new companies that have the capacity to develop new technologies, provide jobs, support the local economy and pay taxes.ā€

On the site Ward also touts his experience at LucasArts saying that he managed the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises and led the growth of the video game company ā€œcreating such popular award winning games as Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Lego and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.ā€

We’ve reached out to Ward for comment and will update if and when he replies.
