Gearing up for the big New Yearâs holidays here in Japan. The entire country has already shut down.
Last week, we sent out presents to family members who gave us presents for the Micro Bashâs birth. For celebrations here, you donât really get presents (sometimes you do!), but rather, celebratory envelopes with cash in them.
And if you get celebratory presents or money, the polite thing to do is to then send that person a present to thank them for giving you a present. Think of them as thank you cards â but more expensive.
There are entire mail/online order catalogs that specialize in this kinda stuff! Standard presents are things like towels or handkerchiefs. We sent people plates. And now I sent you word ofâŠ
