Gears of War is a hugely successful franchise. Itâs what the kids call a âjuggernaut.â But donât expect this juggernaut to fade like the summer sun. Oh no.
Gears of War 2 writer Joshua Ortega dished during a recent New York Comic-Con Gears panel: âYou will not be disappointed in the next ten yearsâŠItâs a ten-year plan. Gears is long-term. The lancer is the new lightsaber.â
As game site VideoGamer points out, a decade of Gears of War would take us to 2016. Think about it. Saber rattling aside, that doesnât seem out of the question, and if other successful game franchises are anything to go by, donât be surprised if we get two decades of Gears. Now, think about that!
