Last week, Chiaki Kuriyama, best known in the West as Gogo Yubari in Kill Bill, released her first CD single âRyusei no Namidaâ, the theme for Gundam Unicorn.
Based on a series of popular light novels, original video anime Gundam Unicorn debuted on Sonyâs PlayStation Network on February 20 with the six-episode series getting a Blu-ray and DVD release later this month. RX-0 Unicorn Gundam has already begun making appearances in video games, starting as an unlockable mobile suit Gundam vs Gundam Next for the PSP and arcades.

Kuriyama, who sings under the moniker âCHiAKi KURiYAMAâ, does a solid, if not surprising job for her first single. The song is very, well, Gundam-y, and her voice is a nice fit. Itâs all so effortless!
Previously, it was rumored that Kuriyama would be appearing the film version of Tekken, a rumor she denied when I interviewed her for my upcoming book on Japanese schoolgirls.
