In 1992, four guys stopped all the other rapping and producing they were doing, got together and quietly released one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.
Gravediggaz consisted, at least initially, of the Wu-Tang Clanâs RZA, Prince Paul, Frukwan and the sadly-deceased Poetic. The groupâs 1994 album 6 Feet Deep (which, outside the US, was sometimes called Niggamortis) somehow manages to be both dark and constantly funny throughout. This track, Diary of a Madman, is taken from the album, but other standouts include 2 Cups of Blood and Defective Trip
Gravediggaz released two more albums, 1997âs The Pick, the Sickle and the Shovel and 2002âs Nightmare in A-Minor. The latter featured neither Prince Paul nor the RZA, and Poetic died of colon cancer in 2001 before it could be released.
Soundtrack isnât news. It isnât video games. Itâs just Kotaku editors sharing music they dig. Enjoy!
