Upcoming first-person shooter Halo 4 will have a whole bunch of multiplayer options, including a weekly episodic mode called âSpartan Ops,â publisher Microsoft said today.
Spartan Ops is a series of episodes that will be released weekly and tell the story of the UNSC Infinity spaceship and its crew, Microsoft says. Youâll get weekly cinematics and weekly missions. You can play the Spartan Ops missions in either single-player or co-op, and theyâre all totally free.
Thereâs also a mode called War Games that will be more like the competitive multiplayer youâve seen in other Halo games. They take place on the âcombat deckâ of the UNSC Infinity and theyâll involve âvisceral and immersive experiences,â Microsoft says. Which is pretty much a meaningless description, but hey. Microsoft says it will reveal more details on the War Games soon.
It sounds like youâll have to dish out extra for maps in War Games mode, though. Microsoft is offering up a Halo 4 Limited Edition for preorder at $100 that comes with three map packs (each including three different maps) that will be all âavailable for download post-launch.â The Limited Edition also ships with a bunch of new customization options and an enhanced 90-minute version of the upcoming live-action digital series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn
Halo 4 will be out for Xbox 360 on November 6.
