Helldivers 2 Merch Lets You Finally Have A Cup Of Liber-Tea

Helldivers 2 is one of the biggest (and best) games of 2024 so far so it shouldn’t surprise you that PlayStation is looking to capitalize on the sci-fi co-op shooter’s success with some new spiffy merchandise, including a mug that I might just add to my collection.

Released in February, Helldivers 2 was so popular that it had too many players trying to hop into its intense third-person sci-fi shooter action, and the servers kept collapsing on PS5 and PC. Luckily, those servers were fixed, and since then I’ve put a ton of time into the game, mostly because it makes combat feel both satisfying and dangerous. I also love the satirical Starship Troopers-like vibes of its world, where democracy is used as an excuse to do anything, even drop big bombs. (Luckily that never happens in the real world…) I especially love it when my soldier yells out “How about a nice cup of liber-tea!” And now, I can get a new mug with that quote slapped on the side.

Announced on March 14 via the Official PlayStation Blog, Helldivers 2 merch is now available across a few different storefronts. Your usual options are here, including some nice-looking shirts featuring the game’s logo in a few different layouts. Nothing too exciting or fun, but nice to have.

The better merch is the sillier stuff, including shirts that include lines from the game like “Sweet liberty, my leg!” and “Say hello to democracy!” My personal favorite is the mug that features the previously mentioned “liber-tea” quote. Now I can drink some delicious Earl Grey tea while I kill bugs and bots in Helldivers 2. The mug costs $20.

There’s also a shirt with an orbital precision stratagem icon and code on it, which is…fine, I guess. Really, this first round of merch feels a tad rushed, almost like Sony didn’t expect this game to set the world on fire like it did. In the blog post, the company promises a “wider product assortment launching over the next few months.” I hope future products are a bit weirder and funnier. I want a “Malevelon Creek Veteran” hat or a shirt with the Strategem Hero logo on it. Actually, just give me a shirt with an image of a Charger and the word “Nope” printed underneath it. I’d buy that.
