Here’s What Borderlands Looks Like Now

Gearbox Software passed us the copy of the cover of the June issue of PC Gamer Magazine to show us exactly what they mean by “Borderlands is not cel-shaded“.

According to Gearbox Software’s Steve Gibson, the cover art for the June issue of PC Gamer is an actual in-game screenshot, bereft of any post processing. While it’s not technically cel-shading, it’s certainly something more than your average 3D rendering, looking more like an image you’d find in a comic book than anything you’d see on a computer screen. I think it’s rather fetching, personally.

We’ll find out more about this intriguing new art direction when the new Borderlands website launches on April 13th, along with the release of the next issue of PC Gamer.
