Creeptacular survival horror game The Evil Within comes out today. If youâre playing the game on PC and having trouble fighting its unsightly monsters in addition to your own personal nausea, publisher Bethesda Softworks has highlighted some handy cheats to set you on your (evil) way.

Bethesda outlined the available adjustments in a post on The Evil Within forums. Technically, these are âdebug console commands,â which means that in order to activate them, you have to put the game into its debug mode. Here are Bethesdaâs instructions for how to do that:
To access the debug console, do the following:
In Steam, right click on The Evil Within and select âpropertiesâ then under the General tab, hit âset launch options.â
Put this in to unlock the console: +com_allowconsole 1
Once the game has launched, hit the Insert key to bring down the developer console
Bear in mind that debug mode âis unsupported by Bethesda and [its] customer service team.â
Hereâs the full list of commands, with the publisherâs descriptions for each included below:
Manually adjust the frame rate:
âR_swapinterval
Sets the FPS lock. Note that the numbers below are negative.
-2: This is the default, set to 30 FPS. This is the officially supported frame rate
-1: This sets the FPS limit to 60. Fully playable, although there may be quirks (weâre going to fix these).
0: This fully unlocks the FPS. We do not recommend playing above 60. We will not fix any issues above 60.
Become invincible:
âGodâ
God mode. You are effectively invincible, and certain enemy kill moves will not be used against you (Laura, for example, will not jump on you)
Walk through walls:
âNoclipâ
Allows you to walk through walls
To get unlimited ammo:
âG_infiniteammoâ
Unlimited ammo (provided you have at least 1 bullet when you enable this)
To stop time:
âG_stoptime 1â
Stops time. Note there is a bug right now where using this command causes a UI element to appear on screen. Weâre looking to fix that in the near future.
Re enable time with g_stoptime 0
To untether the camera from Sebastian:
âToggledebugcameraâ
Separates the camera from Sebastian so you can freely move around the
Adjust the aspect ratio:
âR_forceaspectratio
Sets the aspect ratio. Default is 2.5, which is our official aspect ratio.
0 is full screen, but not ideal. 1.8 or 2 is probably most comfortable for those who donât want bars.
Toggle the gameâs FPS counter
âCom_showFPSâ
Turns on idâs native FPS counter
Slow down time:
âStartslowmotion2â
Slows down time
Disable slow motion by entering âStopslowmotionâ
You know, now that I think about it: do you think that evil dudes with impractical seeming objects like, say, boxes on their heads (see above) have just been using the âNoclipâ cheat this whole time? Because horror games would make a lot more sense to me if soâŠ
