The Sims 4âs first expansion pack comes out this week. In addition to all the cool new career-focused additions Get To Work brings to the game, it also adds aliens into the mix. Hereâs what you need to do to find them.
YouTube channel Somewhat Awesome Gamesâwho previously uncovered the legendary Nintendo easter egg âTotakaâs Songâ in Mario Kart 8âposted a handy guide for any Simmers who want to get straight to the alien stuff in Get To Work:
Here are the steps you should follow, in text form:
Reach Level 9 in the Science career path.
Invent the âElectroflux Wormhole Generatorâ device. Since people only have access to pre-release builds right now (the expansion comes out tomorrow), the full list of required parts isnât spelled out yet. Iâll update this once I have that information.
Install the wormhole generator on a spaceshipâeither one that you own and have installed at your scientist Simâs personal home, or the one located at the snazzy new research facility the expansion pack adds to the game.
Select âTravel Through Wormholeâ from the available options when clicking on the upgrades spaceship.
After a (hopefully brief) loading screen, youâll touch down on the alien planet. Once youâre there, you can start doing normal Sims stuffâalbeit in an, erm, alien environment. LikeâŚgreeting with the aliens:
Since this is The Sims, conversation invariably leads to chatting the aliens up. Yes, that means you can invite them back to earth and indulge in a little cross-species Woo-hoo action:
âŚwhich leads to aliens babies, of course!
Still no toddlers, sadly. I guess even the alien technology wasnât sophisticated enough to pull that off. Yet. I still have my fingers crossed.
If you want to hold off on interplanetary travel and try your hand at alien Sim-building without going through the above steps, you can do that too. The popular Sims blog SimsVIP has a detailed tutorial for creating your own extraterrestrial Sims from the outsetâi.e., without even locating all the new secrets first. All you have to do is select the âadd alienâ option in the gameâs Create-A-Sim (CAS) menu when you first start building a new Sim. Then youâre off to the races:
Alien Sims donât have access to all of the standard CAS features like, say, facial hair. But theyâre also aliens! Do you really expect them to grow beards? If you do, wellâŚIâm sure there will be some custom content that allows you to pump out bearded aliens Sims to your heartâs content by weekâs end.
