āIt was important to us that the game feels as grounded in reality as much as possibleā, says Dead Crusadeās creative director Scott Petty, moments before a trailer shows you hacking the arms off a crowd of medieval zombies.
They key to that sentence is āas much as possibleā. As in, yeah, the walking undead arenāt real, but the guys behind the game are at least trying to inject a little history and plausibility into their zombie horror game, with a black death setting and levels taking place in reasonable facsimiles of medieval locations like York Minster.
Dead Crusade is a co-op action game split across three campaigns, but whatās probably most notable is the fact that itās being built using Unreal Engine 4, and that as a result even at this early stage ā itās over a year away, meaning stuff like animation is still a work-in-progress ā certain parts are looking fantastic.
Developers Aesthetic Games are hoping to have Dead Crusade out by the end of next year. Itās currently up on Kickstarter
