This is The Last Game. It’s a 5:28 animated short that is many things. It’s a commercial for Nike. More importantly, it’s a “World Cup” commercial for Nike when it’s not actually allowed to make official World Cup commercials (since that’s Adidas’ job). But I don’t care about any of those things. I just love it as a cartoon.
The art style, the animation, the humour (which, I’ll admit, it helps if you’re a football fan to get the most out of), it’s all top-shelf.
Especially the Wayne Rooney clone. Those little eyes, oh, so bereft of…anything.
