Last weekend, I visited KCON, one of the biggest Korean pop culture festivals in America. This song came over the speakers, and you bet I Shazam-ed that shit ASAP.
Iām ashamed to admit that my knowledge of recent idol groupsāand specifically, boy groupsāare severely lacking. The pinnacle of my K-Pop fandom was in the late 2000s and early 2010s, when groups like Girlsā Generation, KARA, and SHINee were considered rising stars and legacy groups like Brown Eyed Girls and Jewelry (remember them?) were the old guard.
Thereās a silver lining to that cloud, though, because it means I can continue discovering great, easy-listening songs like this one. Pentagon was one of the performers at KCON this year, and after listening to their fans roar, I donāt doubt that in five or ten years from now, weāll be talking about Pentagon the same we talk about todayās legacy groups and the impact they left on the K-Pop marketplace.
