Kotaku Off-Topic: The Sounds of Spring

For me, it’s not songbirds in the trees, but lawn care. Yesterday the property manager sent folks to mow and trim the grass and shrubbery, and it lasted all afternoon. Believe it or not, I like this.

I am a connoisseur of white noise, and that goes from air conditioners, fans and TVs on a UHF snow pattern (do they even have that anymore?) to freeway noise (sans honking). When I book a motel room, I even ask for the side facing the Interstate.

And it covers even string trimmers buzzing along outside. After finishing my posts yesterday I threw open the windows, flopped on the couch and slept like a baby. Can’t wait for the grass to grow back.
