Famous people tend to get away with things normal folks can’t. If you were to simply turn up on the doorstep of your favourite video game developer, knock on the door and ask to come in, your chances of getting past the receptionist would be slim to none. But if you’re Jon Heder, the guy…
Out soon will be this Metal Gear Solid Rising Revengence figure of the game’s star, Raiden. Look at a single image and you might not think it’s that great. Look at more and you’ll see why he’s so amazing. He’s a Revoltech figure, famous for their articulation, meaning you can set him in just about…
Kyrie is a Korean illustrator who freelances mostly for the games industry. Her work as a character designer is a welcome change from the armoured men, dragons, thick necks and post-apocalyptic wastelands you normally see around here. You can see more of her work at her CGHub and DeviantArt pages. To see the larger pics…
Let’s admire this painting of Link by James Zapata. Just…soak it up. It’s the kind of treatment you normally see for the absolute classics of history and mythology. So it’s also the kind of treatment Zelda deserves. We featured Zapata’s work recently on our Fine Art feature. Check it out here Kokiri [James Zapata, via…
Most of the times, a PS3 system update is a cause for groans, notable only for the fact it interrupts your next gaming session. But this next one’s not so bad! Here are the highlights: Auto download of system software updates has been expanded to support all PSN users. Auto download support of purchases made…
The good news is that SimCity will soon be allowing user-generated content. The bad news is that EA is looking to place so many restrictions on what you can actually mod that it seems almost pointless. In reaching out to the game’s community with its initial plans, EA has already put its foot down on…
The European version of upcoming PS3 exclusive Beyond: Two Souls is going to be a little bit different from the American edition, after slight cuts had to be made to get it under an adults-only rating. First spotted by SCEUNCUT, the changes aren’t much; Sony has since confirmed that only “three minor aesthetic changes” have…
The Kickstarter campaign for Mighty No. 9, a new Mega Man game in all but name, just closed. It made so much money that somebody, somewhere at Capcom might be getting fired today. Initially asking for $900,000, the project closed earlier today with $3,845,170 pledged. Toss in nearly $200,000 in Paypal donations and we’re looking…
Welcome to October, the scaaaaariest month of the year. You guys like horror movies? I get the sense that some of you do. Let’s talk horror movies. Lots of people I know have annual October traditions that revolve around horror movies. For example, today my buddy Patrick Klepek posted his annual Shocktober Horror List over…
Sure, the characters on Attack on Titan use their ‘maneuver gear’ to get around because GIANT HUMANOID MONSTERS WANT TO EAT THEM, but you can’t say that mode of transportation doesn’t look like a ton of fun anyway. And in this regard, the 3DS version of Attack on Titan seems to indulge. Look at how…
It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with Mr. Smooth McGroove, the bearded a cappella master who, along with his feline familiar and sick vocal chops, gives our favorite video game anthems new life. Here he is with the Ice Cap Zone theme from Sonic The Hedgehog 3—it follows up on his last Sonic…
Most of the footage we’ve seen of Battlefield 4 so far has been gorgeous. There’s a reason for that: we’ve either seen next-gen footage, or PC footage. Natch the graphics will be a step up from current-gen systems. Even so, you don’t realize how much of a step-up it is until you see the different…
One of the coolest things about Grand Theft Auto V (and about GTA games in general) is that each player will get a slightly different soundtrack. Sure, the general playlist will remain the same, but every iconic moment may be accompanied by one of dozens of great songs. And they are great—with GTA V, Rockstar…
Track: Glory and Gore | Album: Pure Heroine | Artist: Lorde Kotaku Soundtrack is a selection of the stuff we’re listening to—and gaming to—at the moment.
Did you forget that Rune Factory 4 is out today? I feel like you forgot. Don’t stress out too much, though: that’s what Kotaku is here for. Rune Factory 4, a 3DS game that is out today, is part RPG, part dating game, part life sim. The shtick is that you, the newly-appointed prince/princess of…
Crash, Boom, Bang: If GTA V hasn’t sated your need for intense car chases, Need For Speed: Rivals likely will. This latest trailer shows the new kinds of challenges they’re adding to chases, which let you unlock upgrades. I really liked Criterion’s Most Wanted (Rivals is developed by Ghost Games), and I’ll be intersted to…
Look, you know how this is going to end. A bunch of super-powered martial artists against cartoony zombies isn’t much of a fight. But, oh no! The ranks of the undead are swelling! How will the World Warriors prevail now? Blanka. Good old Blanka. Thanks, buddy.

The New GTA V title update, in addition to enabling GTA Online, fixes a number of other issues players were encountering. Notably, Rockstar says that the lost car-upgrades issue should now be resolved, cash can’t get stuck below zero, and players won’t be occasionally be locked out of the Vanilla Unicorn strip club. Phew.
