Mario & Sonic Winter Games Sells Six Million

If you folks really want Sega to stop making fluffy Sonic games that don’t revolve around simply running fast, it would help if you didn’t buy six million copies of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. Just sayin’.

We can’t blame this all on the Mario fans, and we can’t blame it all on parents eager for a game that’s guaranteed to be good clean fun. Statistically speaking, at least one of the six million plus copies of the game Sega has sold on the DS and Nintendo Wii went to someone who at one time bitched about Sega ruining the Sonic franchise.

And now Sega plans on selling more, what with the actual Winter Olympics currently underway.

ā€œThe original Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Gamesā„¢ was a huge success for SEGAā€ commented Mike Hayes, CEO for SEGA America and SEGA Europe. ā€œMario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is one of the leading third party games for Wii and DS and we were confident the title would have longevity within retail. The start of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games is a perfect time to ensure SEGA is at the forefront of the consumer’s mind when it comes to recreating that Olympic Winter Games feeling in living rooms everywhere.ā€

Okay now. Confession time. Who was it? Which one of you guys caved? Come on, you can admit it.

Yeah, I bought the damn thing too. I’m so weak.
