Windows Live general manager Brian Hall mentioned the new console to The Verge in a podcast last week
âWe did this- weâve had Hotmail for- and operated Hotmail for about 16 years. We obviously have Exchange, and Outlook that people use at work,â Hall said. âWe just decided it was time to do something new and bring the best from each of those- put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office, with the new Windows Phone and the new Xbox.â
Weâve heard quite a bit about Microsoftâs next console, which is code-named Durango. Kotakuâs sources have told us that it will ship with an integrated Kinect sensor, a Blu-Ray drive, and some sort of anti-used game technology

Earlier this year, Microsoft tried to get multiple outlets to take down a 56-page document that purportedly outlined some of its plans for the future, including sketches and details for the Xbox 360âs successor.
