Last week I reported on a Steam racing game, Colin McRae Rally, that seemed to be a remake of a classic from the â90s. Instead it turned out to be a port of a mobile game from last year. Fans were pissed, feeling misled. Now publisher Codemasters is offering refunds.

Now, itâs important to note that Codemasters did update Colin McRae Rallyâs Steam page to be a little less misleading the day after my report (and a few others) went live. Even so, the publisher announced today on Steamâs forums that itâs offering refunds to anyone who feels like they didnât get what they signed up for.
âAt Codemasters, we care about our customers and pride ourselves on listening to our community.â
âWe understand that some people who bought Colin McRae Rally on Steam are upset and feel that it isnât the game they thought it would be. We have now updated the product description for clarification.â
âFurthermore, as an act of good faith, we have worked with Valve to enable anyone that bought the game to claim a refund. The ability to refund will be available until the 19th August.â
âTo process a refund, please go to your account transactions page and you will see a âRefundâ button for Colin McRae Rally. We hope this goes some way to restoring any lost faith and thank you as always, for your continued support.â
So there you go. Youâve got until August 19th. Did you get the game? Are you planning on un-getting it?
