Steve Phillips, fired from his ESPN analystās gig after an embarrassing affair with a production assistant, remains in the commentary booth for MLB 2K10, according to the first previews of the game.
Itās not surprising, nor can 2K Sports be blamed for holding its nose and keeping Phillips on. His scandal came to light in late October, by then most likely too late to replace him for MLB 2K10, which releases March 2. Interestingly, though John Kruk also joins the booth this year, the announcing team of Phillips, Kruk and play-by-play man Gary Thorne are not highlighted in the gameās pre-release features list. Perhaps understandably so.
While intriguing and ā pardon the reference ā inside baseball, the booth team is overall a minor point for a franchise that, as Iāve said before, has plenty of work to do after what it produced last year.
