Uncharted 2ās multiplayer is getting more love, with upcoming downloadable content focusing more on the competitive and less on the cooperative.
Naughty Dog multiplayer designer Justin Richmond spoke to Eurogamer at Sonyās London HQ recently, revealing that heāll be working on downloadable content for the game for the foreseeable future, and while heās āfascinatedā by cooperative gameplay, time and size constraints will keep the focus on the competition.
āWhat youāll probably see is more of the competitive type: more maps, more modes, stuff like that. The co-op stuff is hugely time-intensive and the size of it ā the physical download size ā is huge, so thatās probably not an option. Iām not going to say never, but for the foreseeable future weāre not going to be doing that.ā
That doesnāt mean there wonāt be more cooperative in the franchiseās future, however, with Richmond explaining that heād be keen to explore playing together in future Naughty Dog titles.
āNaughty Dog does a really good job of defining things, and I think no oneās really done a definitively amazing amazing co-op experience and I think we can do that, and itās something that at some point weāll tackle,ā he said. āIf I have my say, then thatās what weād do.ā
Iām of the mind that co-op in Uncharted isnāt entirely necessary, and while it is a nice inclusion, the series wouldnāt suffer without it. Your thoughts?
