To my mind, the best episodes of a big-deal, all-hands-on-deck superhero crossover event are the ones that focus on the ground-level repercussions of the world-threatening chaos. I remember reading a great issue of Gotham Central when DCās Infinite Crisis event was happening that showed riots and madness in the streets of Batmanās hometown and how the police characters reacted to all of that.
I only have this exclusive cover reveal to go by but Iām hoping that Brian Bendis brings the same kind of focus to New Avengers #30 which ties into the Avengers vs. X-Men event. Bendisā best work tends to be on more grounded superheroes and this issue has him revisiting Luke Cage and Daredevil, characters that heās done really strong work on. Iām looking forward to seeing what kind of chemistry sparks in this issue, which hits later this summer. Hereās Marvelās official description:
NEW AVENGERS #30
BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (w) * MIKE DEODATO (a/C)
AVX TIE-IN!
* New York is burning, the world is endingā¦but the heroes on the street
arenāt going down without a fight!
