In a recent interview with AOL, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that digital transactions on the 3DS will be meaningful, and third party game companies can create anything in their imagination.
We’ve heard mention of the 3DS’ upcoming “add-on content” before, but here Reggie gives us the (rather vague) rundown.

When asked by AOL if Nintendo ever plans to enter the DLC fray itself, Reggie said they don’t want to force the issue just for the sake of it.
“We’re interested in it to the extent that it makes sense to the consumer…But what we’re unwilling to sell is a piece of a game upfront and, if you will, force a consumer to buy more later…I think the consumer wants to get, for their money, a complete experience, and then we have opportunities to provide more on top of that,” he said.
Reggie also insists that having the company’s core franchises available for mobile platforms goes against their beliefs. “The concept of having our core franchises on other systems really flies in the face of what we believe in,” he said.
