Nintendo Is Killing Off the Aqua Blue 3DS

Do you own an Aqua Blue Nintendo? You might own a bit of history. Nintendo Japan’s website reveals that the color will soon no longer be in production.

On the Nintendo site, it clearly states: ā€œScheduled to end production shortlyā€ (čæ‘ę—„ē”Ÿē”£ēµ‚äŗ†äŗˆå®š). No reason was given yet, but online in Japan, people are speculating that it could be due to a lack of popularity. Maybe the recently launched Cobalt Blue 3DS impacted the Aqua Blue’s sales.

When the Nintendo 3DS launched last year, it was initially available in two colors: Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black. Since then, the 3DS became available in six colors total—soon, make that just five.

Kotaku contacted Nintendo of America to see how this will impact Aqua Blue sales in the U.S. (I’d imagine it means they’ll dry up!) and will update this post should the company comment.
