Evo co-founder Joey Cuellar says Nintendo didnât just want to stop Smash Bros. Melee being streamed from this yearâs fighting game competition, they wanted to stop that part of the tournament taking place altogether.

âThey were not only trying to shut down the streamâ, he told OneMoreGameTV, âthey were trying to shut down the event, the Smash portion of the eventâ.
It was only when Evoâs organisers âwig-wammed their way throughâ conversations with the companyâs legal department that Nintendo agreed to only go after the streaming portion of the event (a decision they later reversed).
Weâre still waiting on comment from Nintendo of America over the matter, and will update if we hear back.
