Ever wondered what would happen if your acne could talk? Well, there’s an anime about that.
Nyuru Nyuru!! Kakusen-kun is the story of Nyuruo, a newborn whitehead living on some girl’s nose. Each two-minute episode chronicles his adventures and those of the other zits around him as they deal with problems like two giant, pinching fingers and a flood of facial cream.
The show is mainly just short, comical conversations that parody common Japanese story clichés or make fun of Japanese pop culture—like Evangelion, for example. It also derives much of its humor from the Japanese fad of “kimokawaii” (キモかわいい), which takes something disgusting and makes it cute. This is most prevalent in the show’s incredibly catchy theme song—that, of course, comes complete with dancing zits.
If you want to check out the series yourself, you can watch several of the episodes for free at the series’ official webpage. Sadly though, there are no English subtitles.
Nyuru Nyuru!! Kakusen-kun currently airs on Tokyo MX. There is currently no word on an international release.
