Just when you think Nintendo finally gets the internet, the Kyoto-based game maker does stuff like this.
In a recent interview with website IGN, game designer Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that the upcoming Pikmin 3, a launch title on the Wii U, will not have online. Because? According to Miyamoto:

But other games are able to do this (and have done so for years), shouldn’t Pikmin 3? Continuing, Miyamoto added:
So I think what we’ve decided to do is focus on the single-player and local multiplayer aspects, which are really fun. But unfortunately, no online multiplayer for Pikmin 3. But the co-op local multiplayer is really fun.
No doubt it’s a blast. But you know what else would be fun? Pikmin 3 with online.
