At Eurogamer Expo, the creative director for Rage confirmed that the game will release on three discs for the Xbox 360, and for PS3 owners, require an 8 GB install.
The three-disc release wasnât exactly a surprise. At QuakeCon, Joel reported that the game would require 21 to 22 GB of hard drive space if you installed it to your 360. That hinted at a multidisc form for sure. The 8 GB installation on the PS3 had been rumored. idâs Tim Willits confirmed it for Eurogamerâs Digital Foundry, and complimented Sony for its help in managing the installation and permitting one of that size.

Willits said that while id Software recommends installing the game to the hard drive on the 360, âyou donât need to install all three discs. If you donât have the space available on your hard drive, donât stress. Install the first disc, the first chapter, the first half of the game, then when youâre done, uninstall and install disc two.â
Asked to explain what that meant, Willits said: âYou can go back if you want to but thereâs really no reason to.â Also: âYou donât really need to install the multiplayer disc if youâre really tight on hard disk space.â
