Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion, by Witching Hour Studios, is what happens when a small team sets out to bring the experience of, say, Fire Emblem to a platform that will never, ever get an actual Fire Emblem game.
The result is surprisingly positive: the art is lovely, the strategy surprisingly deep and well-rounded (itās built not only on movement but also positioning and even timing). The story and writing can be a littleā¦much at times, but thereās always the option to skip the Roman Empire fan fiction.
If youāve been waiting for an excellent turn-based strategy game for the iPad, and refuse to pay Square Enixās extortionate asking price for Final Fantasy Tactics, then Ravenmark may well be exactly what youāve been looking for.
Note: the gameās also available on the iPhone, but I played it on the iPad.
