David O. Russell, director of Three Kings and The Fighter, has a kooky idea for making Uncharted into a movie: ditch the game story and make it different. Robert De Niro hasnāt read the filmās script, but heās hip.
When asked by MTV whether heās interested in the Uncharted flick, De Niro replied, āAbsolutely, sure.ā The respected actor added that he was āawareā of the project, but that he hasnāt read the script yet, adding, āI thought he did a terrific [job] in āThe Fighter.ā
Russell wants to turn Uncharted into something that doesnāt sound like Uncharted at all ā flick that follows a family of treasure-hunting, justice-dispensing antiquities experts. The director already enlisted Mark Wahlberg to star as Nathan Drake and wrote parts for Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.

āAs far as Iām concerned, Iām very respectful as far as the core content and spirit of the game, but beyond that itās my job as a filmmaker to make what I think is going to be an amazing movie,ā Russell told Slashfilm. āPeople have to trust that and let that go, I think.ā Robert De Niro sure is, it seems.
