Rock Band Gets Totally Funked Up

Rock Band celebrates some of the best music to ever grace our undeserving ears next week, with the Get the Funk Out 01 track pack.

The Get the Funk Out 01 track pack features three songs that are nearly synonymous with the funk genre. Even if you think you’ve not heard Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Shining Star”, The Average White Band’s “Pick up the Pieces”, or James Brown‘s “”Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine – Pt 1”, believe me, you’ve heard them. At this point in human history those three songs are infused in the core consciousness of our species.

The same can’t be said for the songs from Against Me!, The New Pornographers, and Papa Roach, also due out next week, but all five of their assembled songs are just that much cooler now for being released the same day as the Funk pack, which incidentally is March 17th on the Xbox 360 and March 19th on the PlayStation 3.

Of course I respect everyone’s opinion, so I won’t openly accuse you of being an inhuman monster for not enjoying the funk. I’ll just think it quietly to myself.
