Pretty darn good. In its debut week, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya hit the box office top ten.
Depending on which chart you look at, the film, the first Haruhi Suzumiya animated feature, hung around in the top ten. Animated by Uji-based Kyoto Animation, the film is based on the fourth Haruhi Suzumiya light novel created by Nagaru Tanigawa and the very kind Noizi Ito.

Meanwhile, Avatar continues to dominate the Japanese box office with a per-screen average of $8,800 and a total Japanese gross of $121 million
The Haruhi Suzumiya animated series burst on the scene in 2006~2007, propelled in part by a super catchy ending sequence and vigorous licensing from the light novel’s publisher Kadokawa.
Haruhi Suzumiya has seen her likeness in video game form for PS2, PSP, Wii and DS titles.
