Itâs believed that members of Anonymous, a group of hackers and activists, are behind the attacks on the PlayStation Network. While the groupâs âleadersâ have dismissed these claims, the fact theyâre seen as âleadersâ at all may have become a bit of a problem.
While originally conceived as a democratic, leaderless mass, these purported rebels said that Anonymousâ top brass have now âcrossed the barrier, involving themselves in a leadership roleâ, which is ânot how things were set upâ.
One of these rebels, âRyanâ, said that media coverage of Anonymousâ actions in support of Wikileaks and torrent sites inflated the groupâs egos, and led them to begin operations not in the name of a cause, but simply to grab headline space.
âI was never a fan of OpSonyâ, another rebel, âGarrettâ, said, referring to Anonymousâ original campaign against Sony which led toâŠnot much. âThey just like seeing things destroyed.â

While Anonymousâ âleadersâ have denied conducting the attacks which brought down the PSN, the fact itâs a rag-tag bunch of activists has many people believing members of the group were responsible, whether âleadershipâ approved or not.
